The Best “Georgetown” Sneaker Colorways

We round up all the best Hoya-inspired sneakers from Jordan and Nike. And one bonus sneaker!

Michael Jordan and the North Carolina Tar Heels may have bested Patrick Ewing and the Georgetown Hoyas to win the 1982 NCAA Men’s College Basketball National Championship. But that doesn’t mean Jordan’s connection to the Hoyas ended some three-plus decades ago. Ironically, Jordan Brand has sponsored the team’s uniforms and sneakers for years, which has resulted in more than a few “Georgetown” inspired Air Jordans. In case you needed another reminder that the universe has a funny way of unfolding, this would definitely be it.

Along with a healthy amount of “Georgetown” Jordan shoes, there are also a handful of great Nike models done up in the school’s classic navy and grey color scheme. If you’re interested in investing in a timeless-looking shoe, then there’s a good chance that an Air Jordan or Nike model in a “Georgetown” colorway is for you.

We’re not exactly sure how Mr. Ewing feels about all this, considering Jordan and the Chicago Bulls routinely got the best of the former’s New York Knick squads in the ‘90s, but that’s neither here nor there. In no particular order, these are some of our favorite “Georgetown” colorways.

Air Jordan 6 “Georgetown”

If you’re looking for the newest “Georgetown” colorway, that would be this Air Jordan 6. A stunner from every angle, the design features a plush, all-grey suede construction with subtle College Navy-colored accenting throughout for a versatile look.

Nike Dunk Low “Georgetown”

For all you sneaker historians out there, no, the Nike Dunk Low “Georgetown” isn’t an original colorway of the retro basketball shoe per se. But it does have ties to another throwback basketball shoe from the Dunk’s era: the Nike Terminator. How? The Terminator was first released in “Georgetown” colors. To us, it’s splitting hairs.

Nike Air More Uptempo “Georgetown”

Even with Michael Jordan off playing baseball, Scottie Pippen and the Chicago Bulls had the upper hand on the Ewing-led Knicks in ‘94. That may or may not be the reason why Nike decided to release Pip’s former signature shoe, the Air More Uptempo, in “Georgetown” colors a few years back. But either way, this is a classic basketball shoe.

Air Jordan 3 “Georgetown”

Unofficially, the Air Jordan 3 “Georgetown” is inspired by the same hard-to-find, unreleased Player Exclusive versions of the model worn by Georgetown Hoyas players. What’s there not to love about this Jordan 3?

Air Jordan 11 Low “Georgetown”

Before he was Team Reebok, Allen Iverson was a Nike faithful who wore the original Air Jordan 11 during his time with the Hoyas back in the 1995-96 college basketball season. Had the Air Jordan 11 Low “Georgetown” been around back when “AI” was in college, there’s a good chance that he would’ve rocked the colorway with pride.

Air Jordan 1 High ‘85 “Georgetown”

On the topic of rare Jordans in “Georgetown” colors, there may be none more inscrutable than the sample Air Jordan 1 in navy and grey panels with “HOYAS” text on the collar. The shoe in question was designed by Peter Moore prior to the model’s retail release in ‘85, and is the inspiration for the Air Jordan 1 High ‘85 “Georgetown” that dropped earlier this year.

Women’s Nike Dunk Low “College Grey”

Look familiar? The Women’s Nike Dunk Low “College Grey” inverts the “Georgetown” Dunk we mentioned earlier, and adds some bold red “Nike” and Swoosh branding on the tongue and heel, respectively.
